I was staying alone a few days in Tainan, which I felt was kind of a bust all around. Big sign out front advertising 2 Hour Massage for and they were open late.
Mamasan at the counter spoke no English, but was able to communicate that it would be 1 hour massage with HJ for or 2 hour massage no extra for I picked the first option. I didn't have my passport on me either which seemed to kind of piss1 them off. We tried Google translate which was no help. Eventually the head cop called a fellow officer who spoke English. He told me, "Don't worry. They're just checking. It doesn't mean you're in trouble. They went back and forth on the phone and eventually they just left.
