The number of Eastern European prostitutes is outnumbering their Scouse counterparts - according to Liverpool street sex workers. Around half of Merseyside-based escorts advertising on one adult website come from Poland, Romania, Hungary and the Baltic countries. While many of those are working independently, with free choice, one city sex worker claimed some are being coerced against their will into prostitution.
I know several drug dealers who will control the girls and sell them to guys. One leading charity today told how women had been lured to England on the promise of a better life β only to end up forced into prostitution. This is slavery. They can be sold and re-sold.
Some women switch to become traffickers themselves, recruiting their replacements and so winning their freedom. The cards, advertising escort services, have been handed out to would-be punters in Old Hall Street and in Mathew Street.
