There is a lot of prostitution in the Dominican Republic. From the first hotel we stayed at in Santo Domingo to the nightlife of Las Terrenas , it was everywhere. Perhaps in the daytime it is not as apparent, but after a week and half there we got used to it.
I suppose that if you are staying in a resort you will not see this aspect of the country, but we got sick and tired of it. Seeing all of these middle aged, white men with young Dominican women was gross and personally not what we're about. Why would they pull this post? It is an open topic in the Dominican Republic. Personally, I was unaware of the legality of prostitution in the DR was surprised when it popped up everywhere.
It is a fair warning to people who may not be aware that this occurs and will choose to look elsewhere for travels. If I would have been warned of this prior to my trip Sparky I would not have gone and think others should know about it. It is the oldest profession and happens everywhere. Wherever I see it, it just makes me laugh and 'say oh look, free entertainment lol".
They impose their moralities on us. As you seem to be doing Exactly what was it about the young girls with the white guys that you found so "repulsive".. Were they actually fornicating in public?? I doubt it very much. Informing people is one thing.. But "judging" them and imposing your morality on something I doubt you know anything about is IMO totally wrong.. In 12 trips I have seen many of the "girls" Never have I ever seen any sort of unpleasantness, inappropriate behaviour or any situation whereby I thought "Hey that's not on".
Have to agree with Sparky. But of course everyone will have their own opinion, Just like peoples views on resorts, they are all different. Check out your own city and see if there is prostitution, betcha there is. I've seen the way these people "really" live And as long as they're not hurting anyone, I don't blame them for doing what they have to do to survive Well I am not here to argue or get into an argument.
